Socially Open and Closed Positions

Every relationship begins at first sight. HOW YOU LOOK when you walk into a room, affects how people feel about you. There are some positions that promote friendly feelings, and some that do not. Review these body language messages and ask a friend to tell you how you compare.

The Socially Open Position

When we are around strangers, we usually feel anxious and adopt socially closed positions. These positions MAKE US FEEL BETTER BUT… they MAKE US LOOK UNFRIENDLY. Notice the arm barriers, the feet in a "fight or flight" position.
